ABOUT
US
Envisioned by Balaka Biswas, a well-wisher and active
partner of Braindrops,
roller-skating started as a fun based extra curricular
activity that soon enthralled kids and grown-ups equally.
This resulted in the formation of a registered club, by
eminent members, under
the Society Act by the name of Fun-on-wheels,
Braindrops - the first of its kind in West Bengal that
provides guidance in Skating.
Today, after training over a hundred participants, we
are in a position to grow and dare to have a vision -a
vision to make a social impact by popularising this
captivating sport among the interested.
Interactive secondary education, Computer awareness,
Roller-skating, Western Dance, Spoken English, Drawing
courses are some of the diverse activities Fun-on-wheels
can boast of today.
Our constant endeavour to grow and
provide the best exposure to the students have allowed our
participants to perform at Swabhumi and win prizes at a
National Level competitions. Such achievements have helped
us to strengthened our believe that we are on the right
track.
So, now as we stand at this point, a certain question
arises as to what we have to offer within the next few
years ?
Well, for a start, we are planning on the following
endeavors:
To help the skaters learn and practice at their own
pace, we are in the process of preparing a bigger and
better rink of national standard. The rink is expected
to be available within few months.
To provide guidance in the art of roller-skating we are
organizing camps and regular classes to be held by
renowned National Skaters. There are plans to bring in
International Skaters to share their experiences and
provide expertise.
To organize camps for artistic skating regularly.
In a genuine attempt to be the
best and fore runner in popularising the roller-skating
experience in Kolkata and West Bengal in a structured
and unbiased way, we call upon all enthusiasts and
sports lovers for their support and guidance.

Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits,
calorie burning, reduction of body fat and leg strength development.
Just one hour of moderate roller skating (6 mph) burns 330 calories for
a 143-pound person. If that same person skates vigorously (10 mph), he or
she will burn up to 590 calories an hour!
According to a study at the University of Massachusetts, in-line
skating causes less than 50 percent of the impact shock to joint compared
to running.
While roller skating is an
effective low-impact aerobic exercise, many athletes also point to
skating as a strength exercise.
